I am (b)(6) an undergraduate student from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am also a private pilot licensed by both FAA and CAAC with abundant flight experience, so I know the background story of China aviation under the pandemic, and I would love to provide some insights.

Due to the "Zero-Covid" policy in China, the CAAC administrators restrict both domestic and international flights, which negatively affects the income of airline companies. As a result, aviation-related employees such as captains and first officers receive decreasing payment, while some of them have very few flying hours.

由于中国的“Zero-Covid”政策,CAAC 管理部门限制国内和国际航班,这对航空公司的收入产生了负面影响。因此,机长和副驾驶等航空相关员工的薪酬下降,而其中一些人的飞行小时数很少。

Apart from economic influence, captains and first officers from Chinese airlines also suffer from pressure from their employers. As most major airlines in China increased their standard of currency check twice a year, a large number of pilots worry about their performance since they don't have enough flight experience under the pandemic.

Last but not least, besides captains and first officers, the ground and mechanics also suffer from economic and mental pressure. The ground and mechanics are naturally less paid than pilots on average in China, and their salaries also shrink during the pandemic due to decreasing flights.
